Drew Clayborn
Drew Clayborn was practicing a back flip for the Dr. Seuss school musical at Walled Lake Central High when the unthinkable occurred. Drew Clayborn, a 15 year old sophomore at Walled Lake Central High School at the time, suffered a spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed. Drew was a beloved and talented athlete; he played football, basketball and played tuba in the marching band. He is now going through intensive rehab at DMC RIM of Novi to regain as much movement as possible while adjusting to the realities of his injury. Despite his paralysis from the shoulders down, he can send emails and respond on Facebook. He has quickly mastered the use of a device called a sip and puff, which allows him to work his computer by mouth.
Going into his third year, Drew still attends the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Drew’s life is still moving forward and his family are still overcoming obstacles over and beyond his injuries. He continues to amaze himself, our family, and the community each and every day as he continues to get stronger. Drew enjoys being with his family, friends, and attending the University of Michigan football games.
Drew is the son of LeDon Clayborn, the brother to LeDon Jr. and to Desirae Clayborn.
